How do you remove flat back earrings?
Hold the flat back against your ear with one finger. With your other hand, grip the front of the earring (the stone/top) and twist anti-clockwise to unscrew. The internally threaded system means it unscrews from the front — not from the back like regular studs. Use the included insertion tool if needed.

How do you put in flat back earrings?
Insert the post through your piercing from the back, flat side against your skin. Then screw the top (stone/decorative end) clockwise onto the post from the front. Every IVY order includes all three bar sizes (4mm, 6mm and 8mm) plus an insertion tool — so you can find your perfect fit and change bars effortlessly at home. If you use the insertion tool, then insert the tool from the front, then attach the post to the insertion tool from the back, and pull the tool out in the front again, so the post follows. Then remove the tool, and screw the stone topper on.

Are gold titanium flat back earrings hypoallergenic?
Yes. The core is ASTM F136 implant grade titanium, containing no nickel, no lead, and no alloys that commonly cause reactions. The gold PVD finish sits on the front exterior only — it's the same titanium grade used in surgical implants, considered the safest material for pierced ears.

Are flat back earrings good for cartilage piercings?
Absolutely — they're the preferred choice for helix, tragus, conch and cartilage piercings. The flush back doesn't catch on clothing or pillows, and internally threaded titanium is the standard recommended by professional piercers. We recommend a 3mm CZ stone for cartilage.
